In a commanding display, Pakistan's bowlers triumphed over Oman by 93 runs in their T20 Asia Cup match held in Dubai. The Pakistani bowlers were instrumental in limiting Oman's score to a mere 67 runs on Friday.
Oman's Struggles in Run Chase
Chasing a target of 161, Oman's Aamir Kaleem and captain Jatinder Singh opened the innings. Unfortunately, Oman faced a disastrous start; after a tight first over from Shaheen Afridi, Saim Ayub dismissed Singh for a duck on the first ball of the second over.
Ayub continued his impressive performance by taking Kaleem's wicket for 13 runs, leaving Mohammad Nadeem to join Hammad Mirza at the crease. Nadeem's struggle ended quickly as he was dismissed for just three runs by spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.
Pakistan's bowlers maintained their dominance, with Sufyan Mehmood adding a run before being dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz. Mirza, the only batter to show some resistance, scored 27 runs before being removed by Muqeem.
Oman's Collapse Continues
After the 10th over, Oman found themselves in dire straits at 49-6, with Ikria Islam and Shah Faisal yet to score. Pakistan's captain Salman Ali Agha introduced Faheem Ashraf, who quickly took out Zikria Islam for a duck.
In the following over, Afridi dismissed Shah Faisal, also for a duck, while Ashraf's second over saw him claim another wicket, leaving Oman in a precarious position.
Pakistan's Batting Performance
Earlier in the match, Pakistan's captain Salman Agha won the toss and opted to bat first. The opening pair of Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub faced a challenging start, losing Ayub on the second ball without scoring.
Mohammad Haris then took charge, leading the innings and helping Pakistan reach 50 runs by the seventh over. Haris completed his half-century with a six, but the team lost Farhan shortly after for 29 runs.
Pakistan's innings saw a flurry of wickets fall, including Haris for 66 and Agha for a duck, but they managed to finish with a total of 160 runs.
Key Contributions and Final Scores
Mohammad Nawaz added valuable runs before being dismissed for 19, while the team scored 12 runs in the final over, concluding their innings at 160/7.
For Oman, Aamir Kaleem and Shah Faisal each took three wickets, while Mohammad Nadeem claimed one. The brief scores are as follows:
Brief Scores: Pakistan 160/7 in 20 overs (Mohammad Haris 66, Sahibzada Farhan 29; Aamir Kaleem 3/31) vs Oman 67-10 in 16.4 overs (Hammad Mirza 27, Aamir Kaleem 13; Sufiyan Muqeem 2/7).
